What type of strain is Blue Dream

Hybrid Sativa – 30% – Myrcene, Limonene, Caryophyllene

Blue Dream’s origins trace back to California, where it quickly rose to legendary status  as a quintessential West Coast strain. While it hasn’t won any official cannabis cup  awards, its widespread popularity has inspired many breeders to create their versions,  often blending different Haze and Blueberry lineages. While the original Blue Dream is  thought to be a cross between DJ Short’s Blueberry and Santa Cruz Haze, variations like  DJ Short’s Azure Haze and Haze XXL highlight the strain’s versatility and enduring  appeal.

What does Blue Dream taste like and the effects

The sensory profile of Blue Dream is equally enchanting. The strain boasts a deliciously  sweet aroma reminiscent of freshly baked blueberry pie, with subtle hints of spice and  earthiness. Its flavor is just as appealing, delivering a sugary burst of ripe blueberries on  the inhale, followed by a smooth, peppery exhale. The buds themselves are visually  stunning, featuring dense, popcorn-shaped neon green nugs with amber and blue hairs,  rich blue undertones, and a shimmering layer of frosty white trichomes that glisten like  sugar crystals. Caryophyllene binds to the CB2 receptors in our Endocannabinoid  system and provides a peppery undertone to the palate. Myrcene is found in 60% of all  plant life; it contributes to the bitter herbal taste one might associate with green tea.  Limonene is the citrus godsend many have come to know and love in their terpene  profile.

How to grow blue dream?

Blue Dream presents a rewarding challenge to new and experienced growers alike. The  strain exhibits sativa-like growth patterns, with tall plants and generous yields. It  thrives in both indoor and outdoor environments, offering growers vibrant, resin-coated  buds with a manageable flowering time. When germinating, prepare yourself to leave the  seeds alone for upwards of 3 months to ensure the highest yield and most robust flavor.  Ensuring the pH levels sit between 5.5-7 has a significant impact on the success of your  growth. Daytime temperatures need to sit between 68 – 80ºF and 55-70º F at nighttime.  During the vegetative stage, you need to keep the humidity (rH) levels at 55-60%,  decreasing to 40% as you enter the flowering stage, and lower still to 30% upon  harvesting. Blue Dream likes high levels of nitrogen in the soil. Note that Blue Dream is  known to be susceptible to powdery mildew and spider mites. Keeping soil well-drained  and tools clean will help combat this potential issue. Many growers have noticed the  SCROG method is the most effective way to maximize yield, capable of 17-24 ounces per  plant!

Blueberry, also bred by DJ Short, is a potent Indica that got its name due to having a  similar terpene and flavonoid profile as blueberries themselves. It is an OG landrace  cross strain from the 1970’s. It lends the blue hues, cold climate hardiness, and tart

blueberry flavor to its love child, Blue Dream. Santa Cruz Haze is a 70:30 Sativa plant  that thrives in the outdoors. Yielding around 170 g’s per plant, this spicy citrus plant  supplies skunky undertones to the beautiful Blue Dream hybrid. It is an easily found  strain in vape products via synthesizing the terpenes to create the experience. However,  finding a real Blue Dream flower is a treat not to be missed, as it has unique growing  requirements.
