The Lowdown on Labels: How to spot the imposters.
Unfortunately, some products claim they contain CBD, but really they’re using hemp seed oil. How can you tell the difference? Here are some things to look for on product labels:
Hemp Seed Oil
- Does not contain CBD
- What you’ll find on the label: cannabis sativa (hemp) seed oil, virgin hemp oil, hemp oil
- a.k.a.: industrial hemp oil, hemp oil, cannabis seed oil, cannabis sativa seed oil
Hemp-Derived CBD Oil
- Contains CBD
- What you’ll find on the label: CBD, Hemp CBD, Full Spectrum Hemp Extract, Phytocannabinoid-rich Hemp Oil, Hemp Extract Oil
- a.k.a.: CBD oil, cannabidiol, hemp oil, hemp extract, hemp extract oil, full spectrum hemp, phytocannabinoid
Hemp Seed Oil
IS:- oil extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant
- similar to olive & grapeseed oil
- high in anti-oxidants, amino acids, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, Vitamin E
- a great carrier for CBD, as it helps the body absorb CBD
- CBD – it contains little to no trace of cannabinoids
- capable of any of the benefits of CBD
Hemp-Derived CBD Oil
IS:
- oil extracted from the entire hemp plant (leaf, flowers, seeds and stalk)
- high concentration of CBD + trace amount of THC (less than 0.3%)
- a host of benefits including sleep support, stress management, relief for pains, & anti-inflammatory effects
ISN’T:
- intoxicating (CBD will NOT get you high)
- fortified with the nutritional value of hemp seed oil
