Cannabidiol Monomethlyether (CBDM)
CBDM (Cannabidiol Monomethlyether)
CBDM, or cannabidiol monomethlyether, is a naturally occurring minor cannabinoid found in both hemp and cannabis plants. It’s a derivative of CBD, or cannabidiol, making it non-psychoactive, which means it will not get you high or impair your mental processes.
In spite of the fact that it is known to naturally occur in the hemp and cannabis plants, CBDM is present in such tiny quantities that it is incredibly difficult to isolate. For this reason, research on this cannabinoid has been minimal thus far.
CBDM is a derivative of CBD. There are currently seven known derivatives of the cannabinoid.
Very little else is known about CBDM, due in part to the fact that it’s incredibly difficult to isolate. There have been some attempts at isolation for the purposes of research, and research into the cannabinoids' oxidative metabolism has also been conducted.
Legality of CBDM
The legality of CBDM isn’t much of a topic of discussion at this stage, but it’s likely that the cannabinoid will share the same legal status as the cannabinoid it’s derived from: CBD.
This similarity means that provided the CBDM was derived from a hemp plant containing less than .3% THC, then it is considered federally legal. Keep in mind, though, that state laws may say otherwise.
With so little known about the CBDM cannabinoid, its effects have been mostly left up to speculation based on what is known about the potentially beneficial effects of CBD.
Those effects may include pain relief, anti-inflammatory properties, antidepressant properties, anti-anxiety properties, anti-seizure properties, and anti-cancer properties. CBD (and therefore potentially CBDM) may be able to help with neurogenesis, the production of healthy brain cells.
