Almost none of the CBD products that you can buy online or in stores has been put to the test in a credible human clinical trial. We’re talking the kind of studies that gets published in peer-reviewed science journals. How do we know this? Because so few studies of this kind have been done about the effects and safety of CBD on humans. Majority of the research has been done on animals.
The Hemp Haus is proud to announce that the two brands of CBD we stand behind have been put to the test and show promising results that have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. Both Puffin Hemp Liposomal CBD and Ananda Hemp CBD have taken groundbreaking steps (each in their own way) in contributing to filling the knowledge gaps in cannabinoid science, specifically when it comes to how CBD affects people.
This article will focus on Ananda Hemp’s recently published study in Postgraduate Medicine, and how its findings demonstrate that CBD can significantly improve the lives of people who use opioids.
What Ananda Hemp’s CBD Research Study Reveals
For this study, Ananda Hemp’s Full Spectrum CBD Extract was used. According to Dr. Alex Capano, Chief Science Officer of Ecofibre’s Ananda Health business in the United States, “Ninety-seven patients completed the study, all of whom had been using opioids for over a year. Some patients had been using opioids for decades.”
Dr. Alex Capano, Chief Science Officer, Ananda Health, holds the only doctoral degree in the U.S. with a focus on cannabinoid science.
She goes on to explain, “Ninety-four of those patients added Ananda Full Spectrum Hemp Extract (softgels) to their treatment regimen, and in just 8 weeks:
- 53% reduced their use of opioids
- 94% reported improvements in quality of life indices, specifically sleep, pain and/or mood.”
The sleep and pain score improvements were determined using two validated measurement instruments, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and the Pain Intensity and Interference Scale. As a cherry on top, Ananda Hemp Full Spectrum Softgels were well-tolerated and demonstrated an excellent safety profile.
Dr. Capano also reports, “Outside of survey studies, this has been the largest study on the use of CBD to reduce the use of opioids in the treatment of chronic pain.”
We’d also like to point out that Dr. Capano is the first person in the U.S. to hold a doctoral degree with a focus on cannabinoid science. Read more about the doctor and The Hemp Haus in this article in Her Life Magazine.
The additional key takeaway from this CBD human study is the data it provides about CBD oil dosing, delivery method, and specific cannabinoid content.
“Most participants used a relatively low dose of 30mg of CBD per day, whereas other studies on CBD have tested very large doses, 10x or 20x that amount. Lower doses of CBD mean reduced risk of side effects and improved outcomes,” Dr. Capano adds.
The Importance of High-Quality CBD Products
Before there was a Hemp Haus, we were master distributors for Ananda Hemp CBD. We were also customers, which is a major criterion for us to recommend a product: Would we put it in our own bodies?
We’ve known for years how effective Ananda Hemp CBD is because of our own experience with its health effects, and the feedback we receive from our clientele. This is the reason why we only sell a select few CBD brands. We’ve gotten to know the products, the growers, the manufacturers, and the scientists behind these products. We do site visits to facilities and hemp farms. They come to town to do speaking engagements with us. We mingle with them at industry events.
All our products are third-party tested and provide you with the COAs (certificates of analysis). You can ask us about the backstories of the people in charge of making these CBD products, and we will gladly tell you. And now, we’re so happy to report, you can ask us about the actual scientific human CBD studies done with our two major CBD brands, and we will gladly tell you all about them too!
So now, with the beautiful results of this Ananda Hemp CBD human study, we’re going to tell you again about why and how we recommend Ananda Hemp Full Spectrum CBD products.

A Little More About Ananda Hemp
Exceptional Stories of Exceptional People
Barry Lambert is a major financier and now chairman of Ecofibre. Mr. Lambert and his wife have generously donated millions to help facilitate the research of medicinal cannabis. They’ve done this because their granddaughter has suffered from severe seizures caused by Dravet’s syndrome since infancy.
They believe that the U.S. is the place to make real, effective strides with medical cannabis—which probably explains why they have donated $5 million to Jefferson University’s Lambert Center for the Study of Medicinal Cannabis and Hemp.
Dr. Alex Capano was the first doctoral candidate of any discipline to focus on cannabinoid science. After earning a bachelor of science in neuroscience, Dr. Capano graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania while earning a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree to become a licensed family nurse practitioner.
While earning her doctorate at Thomas Jefferson University, she worked up the courage to ask her advisor if cannabis was a possible area of study. Anticipating a negative response, she was surprised to learn that Thomas Jefferson was about to announce the first academic center focused on cannabinoid science. That courageous and fateful moment eventually led her to Barry Lambert and Ananda Hemp.
Dr. Capano is now chief science officer for Ecofibre Ltd., the parent company of Ananda Hemp.
Brian Furnish is an eighth generation tobacco farmer and the Director of Farming & Global Production at Ananda Hemp. He handpicks local Kentucky farming families to help ensure a future for industrial hemp in America that is built on a solid, honest, expert foundation.
In the time since the 2014 Farm Bill, Brian Furnish became the first farmer to grow industrial hemp in the U.S. again. Ananda Hemp is now up and rolling in Kentucky and proudly partners with its parent company, Ecofibre, in Australia.
Again, The Importance of High-Quality CBD
We can’t stress enough how important it is to find a high-quality CBD product. COAs are not enough. A knowledgeable-sounding salesperson is not enough. Words on the label are not enough. It’s true, all these things matter, but none of them alone is enough to trust your health and money to.
Impressively, hemp is a bioaccumulator, meaning it cleans out the soil in its vicinity. That’s great for farmers wanting to clean up their soil. But it can be dangerous if heavy metals, pesticides, and other contaminants end up in your CBD. And, unfortunately, there are some unscrupulous people in the world who will sell contaminated hemp off to be turned into cheap CBD.
Quality CBD cost more because the producers have it tested by third-party labs, which is expensive. But the next time you go into a store or shop for CBD online, try asking the salesperson how many of their CBD brands have been used in human clinical trials that have resulted in published peer-reviewed studies. We don’t mean to sound smug … but doesn’t the future of your health deserve the best?
